One rug, made to order, direct from the loom
You don't need to be a brand or a hotel to commission a PiHue rug. MOQ is 1 piece. You send an inspiration photo or a size and a colour direction; we quote the same working day, run a lab dip for your colour, show you a strike-off sample, and weave it. Total cycle 60–90 days from brief to shipment, depending on construction. GoodWeave + RWS + OEKO-TEX certified, ethically woven in Bhadohi.
How a one-off commission works
- Send us what you have. An inspiration photo, a Pantone number, a fabric swatch, or just a room photo and the mood you're after. Send via the contact form or WhatsApp.
- Same-day quotation. We return pricing, construction options (hand-knotted / hand-tufted / handloom / flatweave), colour matches from our library with ΔE scores, and a sampling plan.
- Lab dip (~10 days per colour). Small physical yarn sample dyed to the agreed recipe, photographed and couriered to you for approval.
- Strike-off (~15 days after approval). Small physical rug sample at your target construction and GSM, to confirm the look before the full rug goes on the loom.
- Production (30–90 days). Flatweave and handloom are fastest (~30 days); hand-tufted 35–45; hand-knotted 45–90 depending on size and knot density.
- Final QC and shipment. Every finished rug weighed on a calibrated scale, measured for ±3% size tolerance, skew-checked, photographed. Ships FOB Nhava Sheva (sea) or FOB IGI Delhi (air).
Picking the right colour without getting it wrong
Our colour library is the fastest way to shortlist. Browse 2,400 shades mapped to Pantone with CIE76 ΔE scores. The ΔE filter chips let you narrow to shades we can hit with confidence (Identical, Close) vs shades where we'd flag a mismatch warning (Shift, Loose).
For brief-critical colours, we ship physical pom-strips free for serious enquiries. Hold them in your room under daylight and lamp-light — the two conditions your rug will live under. Screen colour is a shortlist tool; physical poms are the reference.

Why order direct from a factory, not a retailer
- No middleman margin. Our quotation is what the loom costs.
- Ethical manufacture, auditable. GoodWeave certified (child-labour-free), RWS wool (traceable supply), OEKO-TEX Standard 100 via Hohenstein, SMETA 4-pillar audited.
- Specifications in writing on your purchase order. ±5% GSM, ±3% size, skew ≤ 1 inch. If a finished rug falls outside tolerance it goes back on the floor — we don't ship it and apologise later.
- In-house dyeing, weaving, washing, finishing. Every stage happens under one roof in Bhadohi, which means fewer handoff points where a quality issue can hide.
What does a custom rug actually cost?
Custom rugs are priced per square metre by construction, fibre, knot density, and finish — not a flat per-rug fee. A typical range:
- Flatweave in wool — the most accessible entry; mid three-figure USD for a 6×9 ft rug
- Handloom in wool — similar range; adds plain-field weight
- Hand-tufted in wool — upper three-figure to low four-figure for a 6×9 ft at standard GSM
- Hand-knotted in wool — scales with knot count (KPSI); starts low four-figure and rises with density
- Hand-knotted in silk or wool-and-silk — signature pricing; quoted per piece
Quotation is free and specific — we don't give a “rough number” and change it later. Send us your dimensions and we return the actual price.
Common questions from homeowners
Is 1 piece really the minimum?
Yes. Same quality bar as a 100-piece order — your single rug goes through the same loom, lab dip, strike-off, QC gates.
Can you ship to the US / UK / EU / Australia?
Yes. FOB Nhava Sheva (sea) or FOB IGI Delhi (air). We quote CIF on request and handle export documentation. Transit 7–10 days air, 25–35 days sea.
What if I don't know what construction or fibre I want?
Send a photo of where the rug will go + your rough priority between durable / soft underfoot / heirloom / budget-sensitive, and we propose a construction + fibre that fits. No upsell — honest fit.
Do you provide a warranty?
Every rug carries our GSM and size tolerances in writing. Workmanship issues (binding, weaving) that emerge within normal use are remade or refunded. Normal wear and misuse (water on viscose, moth damage in storage) are not warranty cases.
